Location of the horse: Iceland, but he can stay at the place where here is currently standing or fly to his new owner anytime.
His colour (because it is kind of unique): Grey, born palomino with a snip silver grey mane and tail
During one of my Iceland trips last year I went to visit friends and of course we looked at their horses, and there he was. I didn’t plan to buy another horse, but his appearance totally caught me.
How long have you had Ísingur?
I bought him in February last year when he was just 8 months old and still out on the field with his mum.
What is the most memorable moment together?
Of course the moment I met him first. But also the week in January this year that I spent on Iceland working with him. We brought him in the stable for about a week and I started halter train him.
Can you describe the character of this horse?
Since he is growing up in the wild, he keeps a natural distance to humans. Once you have him in the stable, he is totally fine with getting a halter on and being touched everywhere. He is always polite and cooperative and learning fast.
He is still very young, so it is kind of difficult to say what his biggest talent will be. He shows all five gaits equally with promising movements and a good topline. He is quite tall for this age and having strong legs. I assume he will become rather tall.
Why is it time for you to part?
Letting him go is a purely economical decision. Short-time, work and probable job changes demand some tough decisions including to reduce the number of horses I own.
Can you sketch the perfect owner for Ísingur?
Since he isn’t trained for any special direction yet, I can imagine both an ambitious sports rider as well as someone searching for a true friend for relaxed rides for him. For me it is simply important that he gets the attention he deserves no matter in what direction his new owner wants to go with him.
