I tried Stirnir at Gestüt Birkenhof and it was love at first sight and ride.
Can you describe the character of this horse?
Stirnir is a really cuddly and cute horse. He likes to get a lot of attention and to goof around. He’s really uncomplicated and can be handled by everyone.
How long have you had Stirnir?
I bought Stirnir when he was 6 and now he’s 13. So I have had him for seven years now.
It’s hard to decide which the most memorable moment is because we had so many. I love to think back to all the nice rides through the forest. Thinking about sport there are two moments that were really special for us. The first moment was when we became Swiss Champions in T2 for young riders with 6.79 in 2019. In the same year, we got nominated as reserve combination for the World Championships in Berlin. And of course, being in Berlin together with Stirnir and being able to train in this arena was quite special and memorable for us too.
How is Stirnir as a riding horse?
Stirnir is very well educated. He’s really routined and I’m sure that he would be a great schoolmaster. His character is very nice and you can always decide if you want to do slow dressage work or go for a fast ride in the woods. He’s a fivegaiter but only trained fourgaited. He has three good basic gaits and a lot of really nice and easy to ride tölt with great flow. His nice movements and really good balance in tölt got rewarded with marks up to 7.5 in competitions.
What is the highest score of the horse?
Our highest T2 was 6.79 which we got in a final. Our highest T2 preliminary score was 6.67. In V1 our highest score of 6.37 was in a final as well. In V1 preliminaries we scored up to 6.20.
What makes this horse so special?
His unique character. He really loves to goof around and cuddle. And of course, his endless clearbeated easy to ride tölt.
Tölting endlessly and just making me smile.
Why is it time for you to part?
Stirnir is a really great horse and was the best companion I could have wished for during my junior and young rider years. As I’m a senior rider now, it’s time for us to go separate ways as my aims in riding sports competitions and developing my riding have grown and he already exceeded my expectations of how far we can develop and go in the sport together.
Can you sketch the perfect owner for Stirnir?
I wish that Stirnir finds a home where he’ll be loved and appreciated as the beautiful and lovely horse he is. I’m sure he could be a great schoolmaster for a junior or young rider who wants to start competing or is looking for a new competition horse. But I think he also could make someone really happy, who is looking for a luxurious leisure horse with a lot of tölt. Or of course also as a schoolmaster for someone who doesn’t want to compete and just wants to develop further in their riding. All in all, I wish that he finds a home where he gets a lot of cuddles and a new purpose.
